4 months and counting

Hunter has his 4 month wellness check up this Thursday. I am anxious to find out his weight and get my many questions from the Dr. answered. I never mentioned anything about Hunter's appointment with the specialist so I will explain that...Hunter has a gurgling sound he makes since just about the time we brought him home from the hospital. I wasn't concerned at first but then it never went away. It didn't happen all the time but a lot of the time. We mentioned this to his Dr. and she thought it was Laryngomalacia. Which basically means he has an immature airway and it collapses instead of just falling back when he takes a breath. She said it is very common and usually fixes itself with time. But just to be sure she sent us to a specialist and we were told it's most likely fine but the only concern is Hunter's weight. He is on the small side, he was 10lbs 3oz at that appointment 12/16/10. He is thriving everywhere else, very active, alert, happy, hitting all the milestones etc. It could be just a coincidence that he is on the low end in weight or he could be burning calories with the extra effort it takes to breathe for him with the Laryngomalacia. So she said let's see how he is at his 4 month check up and go from there. Basically the other route would be to put him under anesthesia so she could look farther down his throat to see if there is a cyst or something like that that needs to be removed. I was completely freaked out when she said "operating room", "anesthesia", I wanted to cry right then and there. I held it together--at least until after the Dr. left the room, then of course I broke down! I am not going to worry too much (try not to worry at least) until we see what his primary care Dr. says and how he is doing come Thursday.

Wow, I never knew having a child could completely put life in a totally new perspective for me. Now I can really understand why parents just say they just want a happy and healthy child....Hunter is perfectly happy and healthy which I am thankful for but this breathing thing just freaks me out! The specialist did reassure us that it's very common and most cases it goes away on it's own just fine. I will update more after his appointment.

On this more fun side of things..Hunter has started sucking his thumb! I really didn't want him to start that habit but right now I can't help but smile and laugh when he does it because it's so darn cute! He has never taken a pacifier (maybe once or twice) he just spits it out. He can roll over back and forth with no problem at all! Poor guy though does it so much in his crib he gave himself little rug burns = (. He is really starting to show his little personality now, which I love! He is a little charmer, full of smiles and laughs! He has his cranky moments too, it's not all perfect...mostly though, hehe. Lately though he really HATES his carseat, just seeing it he starts to cry, so that has been a challenge. Like when we are at the grocery store or Target etc, he is okay for a very short time then the crying begins and I have to carry him and push the cart at the same time which doesn't help when I want to shop fast. I should wear my sling but I always forget. I have the moby wrap which I loved at first but then it's really annoying to wrap it with all the material and just not as quick and easy as I would have liked. It's still fine for home but not on the go for me. I am kind of interested in the Ergo baby carrier...we'll see though. Bye for now!

Christmas morning

Loving his Jumperoo!

Adorable hat from Uncle Jerry and Aunt Sue

Jeremy's "Air Guitar" from my mom...it was awesome...hehe

New crib mobile and the bugs in a jug toy
So Christmas went really great this year. It was very low key and I really enjoyed it. Hunter got some great gifts and we got some really cute pictures, so I couldn't ask for much more. Christmas morning we skyped with my mom so she got to enjoy Hunter's 1st Christmas with us, it was very special. Hunter got a mobile for his crib, a Fisher Price Jumperoo, and some soft toy bugs from Melissa and Doug company(by the way I LOVE that toy and the quality is amazing!)

Merry Christmas Eve

Not our house....we're not this talented...lol

Today we didn't really have big plans for Christmas Eve so we ventured out to watch all the other people freak out over getting their last few Christmas gifts. It was quite nice just enjoying the day and not worrying about getting more presents. We went for coffee in the morning and then hit up Best Buy and Sam's and Toy's R Us, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Later we looked at Christmas lights around the neighborhood. Then we skyped my mom so she could watch him open two gifts. One was his 1st Christmas ornament from Gramma and Grandpa. I love it! It is too cute and so special. Jeremy and I got him his first Christmas book "T'was the night before Christmas", which we read to him before bed. What a wonderful day!

Bumbleride

Bumbleride Flite 2010
So lately I have been wanting a smaller stroller that I can just keep in the car with me. It's just way to hard to lug around my huge Chicco Cortina travel system. Although I do love it as a stroller, taking it in and out of my car almost everyday is NOT fun. The Bumbleride Flite is what I am liking lately. It's very small and light yet it has an adapter to be able to strap in your baby car seat! I love that. So it's basically as small travel system. I hope to get it soon and once I do I will do a review on it.

Wrapping presents

Hunter helped me wrap some presents today...He was sitting in his little chair next to me but after a few minutes that wasn't happening for him. So I ended up holding him in my lap..needless to say it's not the easiest thing to do while holding a baby!

Christmas shopping

This is the version we bought Hunter
Thank goodness for online shopping! I can't stand the busy stores during the holidays. If I do go to the store I make sure I go early in the day and during the week. This week we got Hunter his first Christmas book, I think we are going to make it a tradition and buy him one each year. We got him 'Twas the night before Christmas, it's  a Christmas must have. I want to read it to him on Christmas eve.

Pretty sky...

This is outside my house tonight..

I love watching Hunter sleep...he makes the cutest little noises when he sleeps.

Holiday Christmas party

Tonight Jeremy had his work's holiday winter wonderland party. We got to show Hunter to all his co workers and friends. Hunter was in a good mood, he was a little 'deer in headlights' with all the people staring at him and oooing and ahhing at him lol. There was a gingerbread house contest, a cake walk, sugar cookies for the kids to decorate.

There's nothing like sitting by a warm and toasty---flatscreen?? lol

Cookie exchange!

Today my mommy group had a Christmas cookie exchange. It was fun as usual, with the mommies chatting and the babies playing, sleeping, eating and whatever else they do! So many yummy cookies there to try. I baked Brune Kakka cookies, they are sooo yummy. I love getting together with the other moms, good conversation and good socialization for the babies.

Dear Hunter...

 My sweet Hunter,
The day you were born was so very special to me! At the time I was in a lot of pain and discomfort, as you can see from the photo to the left..but looking back at it I would go through it a million times over. Your daddy was there to comfort me whenever I needed it and was right by my side. Your Gramma BS was there too, and I am so happy she could share your special day with us as well.
Here you are just minutes after you were born. It was a little scary at first because you were breathing a little faster than the doctors wanted so they took you from laying on my chest to the nurses table and even put you on your stomach which helped slow down your breathing to a better pace. I was a little nervous because I couldn't tell what was going on yet. However, your daddy was right by your side watching you and making sure you were okay.
We fell in love with you instantly. I mean who couldn't right?? I remember thinking(and still do)I have the most beautiful baby in the world...Your daddy was so good with you and whenever the nurses needed to take you to the nursery to get a bath or your blood taken etc, he would go with you so you were never alone.
This is me being in awe of you..I couldn't believe my baby boy was finally here! I am so thankful for you each and every day. You make me so happy, thank you for being my baby. love mommy

Christmas list???

What on earth do you buy for a 3 month old for Christmas?? It's not like he NEEDS anything...well there are a couple of things I would like for him to have..I told my mom and dad about wanting a Fisher Price Jumperoo for him and a nice crib mobile. So I think those things are covered. Not sure what Jeremy and I are getting for Hunter yet though...

I will say this though, after thinking about what Christmas traditions I want for my family, is that I want Hunter to know that Christmas is not just about getting a bunch of presents. I want him to know that it's about spending time with the ones you love and being thankful for what you have. I want him to be able to "give back" when he is a little older and maybe as a family we could "adopt" a family or child in need for the holiday. Or purchase some items for "Toys for Tots".  I really want him to know that Christmas is not just about getting a tons of presents from Santa...I just want him to be a good person and care about others and be kind.

I love Hunter so much already, it's crazy. It's hard for me to think that there was a time where he wasn't a part of my life. It feels like so long ago that I was pregnant with him and it was just Jeremy and I.  I am so thankful for him to be in my life.

Next Baby Gap model????

I want a tractor, and a pony, and a bicycle and a wagon and, and, and, and...

Hunter's first Santa picture 2010
Hunter did so good with Santa today....He just sat there so good on his lap...there was a lot of things and people to look at so it was kind of hard getting his attention for a nice big smile but I guess that's okay..The picture is still adorable. It could have been worse, at least he was not screaming in terror!

Amazon Mom is awesome!!!

So buying diapers is always a fun task...hear the sarcasm?? I am always trying to find the best price per diaper and still love the diaper itself of course. Walmart and Target usually have the best prices so far that I have found. However, just recently I heard about Amazon Mom, it's through Amazon's website where if you sign up(it's free) and subscribe to a delivery of your diapers you get 30% off and free shipping! You just have to set it up for automatic delivery, which is fine because you can set it up for once every one month or up to once every six months. You can change your order if say you think you will need a new size before if ships out. This is so great and delivered to my door?? Sign me up! For example the pack of Pampers I buy at Target for $20.00 is only $12.71 through Amazon Mom with free shipping! Now this is a great thing, thanks Amazon!!!

Santa time!!!

So tomorrow we are planning on taking Hunter to see Santa! I am very excited as this was a big tradition when I was growing up..now I get to experience being the parent and getting Hunter all dressed cute so he can get his yearly Santa photo..That's right Hunter, as long as you are living under my roof you will have to get your Santa picture. I don't care if you are 25 years old..love you = )

Activity time again...
